How To Repair Outlook on Your PC

For Repairing Outlook on your PC (non web-based Outlook)

First, reboot your computer and do not run Outlook while completing the following steps.

1. Delete the Outlook Mail Profile by following the directions at the link below.

NOTE: If you don't see the "Mail" icon as these instructions mention, then click the START button again, choose "Control Panel" and look for the "Mail" icon there....and continue with the instructions.

2. Run Outlook again, when prompted for profile name, type in your login name (username).

3. Download the Exchange directory (Instructions on what to click in Outlook: How to Download Exchange Directory).

4. Exit Outlook again, then complete the steps at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/287623  or scroll to the center of the document and choose Fix It to remove nickname cache.

After completing all these steps, you may notice missing folders.  These are likely links to .pst files created to hold e-mail. Send an e-mail to helpdesk@tnstate.edu and a technician can assist with getting these folders back.
