The office ensures that candidates completing teacher licensure programs have met all licensure requirements. After candidates have completed all requirements, they must submit documentation to the office. The office will upload all required documents into the Tennessee Department of Education (TDOE) portal for review and issuance of the Practitioner license. Additionally, the office is responsible for evaluating transcripts of candidates seeking teacher licensure as a post-baccalaureate candidate in the Pre K -12 educational setting.

Post-Baccalaureate Candidates Seeking Teacher Licensure

The candidate must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least a 2.75 or higher on the most recently degree awarded.  A conditional admission into the licensure program is awarded if the candidate has a 3.00 GPA on the last sixty (60) hours of course work on the most recent degree.  If the candidate is eligible then a Program of Study is issued to the candidate for licensure.  If the candidate is seeking a master’s degree while obtaining licensure that candidate must present the licensure Program of Study to the master’s degree advisor so that the licensure courses will be incorporated with the master’s degree program.
