Scholarships & Financial Aid
There are external scholarships and fellowships available to the civil Engineering majors as follows:
1. Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation Fellowship Program for the Historically Black College and Universities (HBCUs
2. Tennessee Road Builders
3. The Nashville branch of the American Society of Civil Engineers
College of Engineering, Technology and Computer Science Service Scholarships
1. Teaching Assistants': Normally they grade homework, meet with students twice a week and are awarded book scholarship
2. Mentoring Assistantships: Mentors interact with lower division students, guide them on the right track and set a good role model. Mentors are awarded a book scholarship
3.Killer Subject Teaching Assistants: Upper level students help students to overcome the difficulties associated with these subjects aiming success in engineering, a book scholarship is awarded.
4. Plato Monitors: These students will monitor the PLATO Computer Tutorial Lab. A book scholarship is awarded.
5. Industry Sponsored Scholarships: Students can earn some or all of the followings: Tuition, Stipend and Books.
FINANCIAL AID
All students majoring in Civil Engineering are encouraged to apply for financial aid through the University’s Financial Aid office.
Students living outside of Tennessee with their permanent residence in Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Virginia, or West Virginia should check with the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) for financial aid through the Academic Common Market (ACM) program. Information may be obtained online at www.sreb.org . Students whose state of residence is listed above may qualify for an out-of-state fee waiver.
