Welcome to the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering (CAE) at Tennessee State University. The Department has a long tradition dating back to 1954, and is widely acknowledged as the premier Civil and Architectural Engineering program in the South East. Our programs have very strong links to the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry. We have a reputation as a friendly, open academic environment where students and faculty can pursue their diverse interests. The CAE Department is committed to quality teaching, research and service. The department takes great pride in preparation of students to excel in their professional careers. Our graduates apply scientific and engineering principles to the plan, design, construction and maintenance of buildings and infrastructure systems, and are equipped to work in a variety of roles in design, construction, government, education and other industry sectors. They are very highly sought after and most of our alumni are active in the planning, design and construction of high profile building and infrastructure projects both in the US and around the world. The department encompasses two ABET-accredited B.S. degree: Civil Engineering and Architectural Engineering. The undergraduate degrees in Civil and Architectural Engineering have a common interest in structures and construction engineering. With Architectural Engineering Program-we have three specializations-structures, mechanical/electrical/lighting, and construction management. Dual degrees are possible in Architectural and Civil Engineering. Undergraduate Civil Engineering Program and Undergraduate Architectural Engineering Programs accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org. The department also administers a combined graduate program that awards a Master Degree in Engineering and PhD Degree. The Master Degree focuses on three major areas of the department: Civil Infrastructures, Transportation and Environmental / Water Resources. The PhD Degree focuses on Ph.D. in Engineering and Computational Sciences (ENCS) with two concentration areas: (1) Engineering Systems and (2) Computational Sciences. This Web site contains much useful information for students (current and prospective), industry partners, faculty and staff, alumni and friends.
