Dropped Courses & Withdrawal Fees

Prorated Costs of Tuition & Fees

Students who officially drop or administratively withdraw from classes will receive tuition and fee refunds as follows:

NOTE: Refunds are calculated based on liable credit hours. Therefore, in some instances, a refund may not be applicable. Students are encouraged to better plan their schedules and retain their full-time status on their way to a timely and successful graduation.

DURING FALL and SPRING TERMS:

• 100% before the first day of classes;
• 75% beginning the first day of classes through the fourteenth day (including weekends);
• 25% beginning the fifteenth (15th) day of classes through 25% of the term;
• 0% after the 25% refund period.

FAILURE ON THE PART OF THE STUDENT TO SUBMIT A DROP COURSE REQUEST OR A WITHDRAWAL FORM TO THE TSU RECORDS OFFICE COULD RESULT IN THE FORFEITURE OF THE PRORATED AMOUNTS.

EXCEPTIONS:

• 100% prorated amounts are returned for classes that are cancelled by the University.
• 100% prorated amounts are returned in the untimely death of the student.
• Tuition is not prorated if the student is dismissed or suspended.

Prorated Costs of Housing & Meal Plans

TSU Residence Life Housing and Meal Plan charges are prorated on a weekly basis when a student is forced to cancel housing charges because of personal medical reasons.  A Residence Life billable week consists of three consecutive days.

The housing withdrawal must be completed with the TSU Residence Life Office, only.  A Residence Life Tab is accessible on your myTSU account.  The request to withdraw for medical reasons must be confirmed, in writing, by a licensed physician.  The TSU Residence Life Office [ ResLife@tnstate.edu ] will review your account charges for any reason other than a disciplinary reason.
