Continuing & Readmitted Freshmen

Freshmen

Students with 0-29 earned credit hours are classified as freshmen. Building a relationship with your advisor during the freshman year is a rewarding experience that proves to be a meaningful partnership throughout your academic career.

Continuing freshmen are students with less than 30 earned credit hours who completed 1 semester at TSU and are currently enrolled at TSU. Continuing Freshmen are advised in the Office of Student Success (OSS).

The A6 Hold

All classified freshmen have a freshman advisement (A6) hold on their account. The hold is lifted when a student is advised for courses for the upcoming term and permanently removed when students earn 30 credit hours.

Students readmitted with 0-29 earned credit hours are advised by an advisor in the Office of Student Success (OSS). Whatever your circumstance, know that you belong and have a community of support. Readmitted Freshmen can connect with their advisors at any time via email.  Students returning from suspension will follow the Academic Recovery registration process here  and must be readmitted or have an approved academic appeal.

The A6 Hold

All classified freshmen have a freshman advisement (A6) hold on their accounts. The hold is lifted when a student is advised for courses for the upcoming term and permanently removed when students earn 30 credit hours. Focusing Your Efforts

Students who are readmitted and were not in good academic standing during their last term at TSU will follow the Academic Recovery registration process outlined here

Getting to know faculty is essential for exploring opportunities within your field and department.  Using faculty office hours is a great start, but try to attend events hosted by faculty and/or your department to strengthen the relationship outside of the classroom.  A great student-faculty relationship will help with future recommendation letters and career, research, and graduate opportunities.

There are many resources on campus to keep you engaged and help you navigate college life. Many events and opportunities are announced through university communications, so check your email regularly. You'll also want to connect with the Career Development Center and join Handshake to get updates on internships and career preparation opportunities. You can also share any internships, service-learning, and other co-curricular activities completed with them.

TSU's motto is Think - Work - Serve, and service is a key ingredient for future success.  You may be interested in community service opportunities within the TSU local area, your home, or abroad.  Many students think it's impossible to participate in these opportunities because of financial and other concerns, but there is support to help you achieve your goals.  Now is the time to build your plan to expand your community service or map a timeline to study in another country.
