Performance and Production
The Theater and Dance Program, serves three main tracks of students, which are students in the Theater Performance Track, the Theater Production Track and the Theater/ Dance Track.
The Theater and Dance Program functions as a professional training ground within the educational framework of the department, as well as the university. The students are prepared to pursue a variety of performance, production, or teaching careers: Theater Performance, Theater Production and Dance.
The Theater and Dance Program is rich in its history and uses the beautiful Cox-Lewis Theatre as its centerpiece.
The program, established in 1939 by theater trailblazer Dr. Thomas Edward Poag, is housed at the Cox/Lewis Theater in the TSU Performing Arts Center. This 350-seat proscenium theater is the forum for the presentation of a wide variety of theatrical and music performances by students, faculty, and professional guest artists.
