Best Performance Of A Work By A Black Composer:

Aminata Burton (Central State University)

The TSU Choir, under the direction of Professor Diana Poe, performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington at the annual Kennedy Center Honors event. Among the honorees this year were Paul McCartney, Merle Haggard, and TSU's most famous former student, Oprah Winfrey. The performance was a surprise to Ms. Winfrey as well as to the choir members, who did not know their destination until their flight touched down in Washington. Kudos to Mrs. Poe and the TSU choir for so beautifully representing our University and our Music Department.
