Sarah Bowman
Choir Director, Voice, Vocal Music Education
Sarah Jenkins Bowman currently serves as the director of the University Choir and Meistersingers choral ensembles at Tennessee State University. She also teaches Vocal Techniques for Instrumentalists, choral conducting, and applied voice. Prior to her tenure at TSU, Bowman completed her MM at Ithaca College, serving as a graduate assistant and instructor. Bowman also taught elementary general music in the Shelby County School System in Memphis, TN.
Sarah Bowman has a Bachelor's degree in Choral/Vocal Music Education from the University of Tennessee at Martin, where she studied voice with Dr. Amy Yeung and conducting with Dr. Mark Simmons. She has Masters of Music Performance in Choral Conducting from Ithaca College, with additional coursework toward a Master's Degree in Voice Performance. At Ithaca College, Bowman studied choral conducting with Professor Lawrence Doebler and Dr. Janet Galvan, orchestral conducting with Dr. Jeff Meyer, and voice performance with Dr. Ivy Walz.
