About 4-H
4-H is a positive youth development organization that empowers young people to reach their full potential. The 4-H Youth Development program area develops and  implements educational programs, events and activities that focus on developing life skills that will facilitate the development of productive adults and learning practical skills for life applications.

The 4-H Youth Development is a program area of Tennessee State University Cooperative Extension Program. Tennessee’s 4-H program is a cooperative effort with youth, volunteer leaders, Tennessee State University Cooperative Extension Program, local, state, and federal government (United State Department of Agriculture-USDA).

4-H Mission
4-H empowers youth to develop life skills, gain knowledge, and reach their full potential while working and learning in partnership with caring adults.

4-H Vision
The national vision for 4-H is creating a world in which youth and adults learn, grow and work together as catalysts for positive change.  This is achieved by providing educational experiences for young people to gain knowledge, develop life skills, live healthy lives, make intelligent career choices and form positive attitudes—values young people will rely on throughout their lives.
