CAEP Annual Reports

The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) is responsible for the oversight of accredited programs and ensures that proper teaching standards are fully implemented for its accredited programs. CAEP accreditation is widely considered as the primary educator program-specific accreditation.

The College of Education at Tennessee State University is accredited by CAEP.  Accreditation by CAEP indicates that the College meets standards established by the organization. The College provides required annual report information, specifically on Four (4) Annual Reporting Measures (initial and advanced).

Measure 1 (initial): Completer effectiveness

Summary:

The Tennessee State University 2025 Provider Impact data demonstrates that 86.8% of recent completers earned a Level of Effectiveness (LOE) rating of 3 or higher, indicating they are meeting or exceeding professional expectations. Classroom observation scores further validate this performance, with 94.6% of graduates rated at or above expectations for their instructional practice in P-12 settings. Furthermore, student growth metrics confirm that the majority of teachers prepared by the EPP are positively impacting student learning outcomes across the state.

Measure 2 (initial and advanced): Satisfaction of employers and stakeholder involvement

Summary: The satisfaction of employers of TSU's teacher candidates is gathered annually through surveys, advisory board meetings, and district data meetings. Generally, employers of our initial licensure teacher candidates and our advanced program completers are satisfied with their preparation, and TSU completers consistently demonstrate effectiveness in Tennessee public school classrooms as reflected in state EPP Report Card data.

As a land-grant HBCU with a long-standing mission of service to the Nashville community and beyond, TSU maintains primary and state-recognized partnership agreements with districts across Tennessee, including Metro Nashville Public Schools — for which TSU has produced more educators than any other university in the area. We engage in various activities across the year, including advisory board convenings, district data meetings, and alumni outreach, that provide opportunities for candidates, completers, partners, and other stakeholders to provide feedback, discuss common problems of practice, and identify mutually beneficial solutions that strengthen both our programs and the communities we serve.

  • The initial programs employer survey for completers from 23-24 and 24-25 will be available in Autumn 2026, based on information pulled from alumni satisfaction survey. This delay in implementation is due to updates in EPP database to mirror TNCompass (state) database for candidate tracking.

Measure 3 and 4 (initial and advanced): Candidate competency at completion and Ability of completers to be hired in preparation areas

Tennessee State University visual analytic dashboards are a collection of interactive, visual tools that give administrators, faculty and staff expanded access to detailed university data on selected core measures. This dashboard tool reflects the University's commitment to:
