bio

Angela Páez joined the College of Public Service at Tennessee State University in August, 2018. She is a 2013 graduate of the School of Public Affairs and Administration at the University of Kansas, funded by a Fulbright scholarship (2009-2011). Her areas of interest are law and public administration, courts and rights protection, and water rights in Latin America. Dr. Paez's research focuses on how law shapes bureaucratic institutions and behavior,  particularly whether law can trigger social change and reduce inequalities. Recent funded research includes a fellowship at Chr. Michelsen Institute (CMI) - LawTransform (Bergen, Norway) in Spring 2022 where she conducted research on community managed water plants in Colombia. Dr Páez. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as the Latin American Research Review (forthcoming), Water, Vniversitas, and Juridicas. She has served as a reviewer for Public Administration and Development, Latin American Law Review, and Vniversitas, among others. She serves as a board member of the ASPA Section on Public Administration Research (SPAR).  

Prior to her studies at the University of Kansas, Dr. Páez received a Law degree and a Master's in Administrative Law from Universidad del Rosario (Colombia). She has experience teaching undergraduates and graduate students at a range of institutions including Universidad de La Sabana (Colombia) and KU. Dr. Páez serves as Graduate Programs Coordinator for the department since 2022. A native of Bogotá (Colombia), she resides in Nashville with her husband and son.
