Security Measures and Proctoring Protocols

To protect academic integrity and maintain secure testing environments, the Testing Center implements standardized security measures and proctoring protocols for all examinations.

Testing Center Security Practices Include:
Verification of student identity using a university-issued photo ID prior to testing
Pre-test security walkthroughs and screening procedures, which may include pocket checks and electronic screening using handheld detection wands

Prohibition of unauthorized items in the testing environment, including but not limited to:

Mobile phones and electronic devices
Smart watches and wearable technology
Large or bulky jewelry
Large coats, jackets, or outerwear
Bags, backpacks, purses, and personal containers
Secure storage of personal belongings outside the testing area
Active proctoring by trained Testing Center staff throughout the entire testing session
Continuous monitoring through security cameras in testing areas
Direct observation through testing room observation windows, where applicable

These security measures are applied consistently to deter, detect, and address unauthorized materials, devices, or behaviors during testing.

Monitoring, Investigation, and Reporting

Testing Center staff actively monitor all testing sessions. If suspected academic integrity concerns arise, staff will address the concern at the time of occurrence, document the incident, and promptly report the matter to the course instructor and appropriate University offices in accordance with institutional policy.

The Testing Center does not adjudicate academic misconduct. All investigations, determinations, and sanctions are handled by the appropriate University authorities under the Tennessee State University Student Code of Conduct.
