Accommodations Exams

All academic accommodations must be approved by the Office of Disability Services. To receive academic accommodations students must contact the Office of Disability Services and  complete the appropriate documentation. 

Accommodation exams are offered by appointment only through our Testing Lab, located in Holland Hall, Room 310. The lab is open for testing Monday through Friday, from 8:15 AM to 4:00 PM. Professors must submit a completed Special Accommodation Test Request Form and The Office of Disability Services memorandum when scheduling an Accommodation exam.  For more information regarding scheduling, professors can email TCAccommodation@tnstate.edu or call 615-963-1481.

ACCUPLACER (Placement Test)

The Accuplacer exam is administered in the Holland Hall, Testing Lab, Room 310. If it is not convenient to take this exam in person, students may register for "Remote Network Testing" or Virtual Remote Proctoring". Students requesting Remote Testing or Virtual Remote proctoring will be assessed a fee. Please contact the Testing Center for additional information. (615-963-2970)

 

ATI TEAS-Nursing (Test of Essential Academic Skills)

The ATI TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) is designed specifically to assess a student's preparedness entering the health science fields. The ATI TEAS test is comprised of 170 questions set up in a multiple-choice format. Questions are designed to test the basic academic skills you will need to perform in class in the areas of: Reading, Math, Science and English and Language Usage.

College-level Examination Program (CLEP)

The College-Level Examination Program (CLEP), administered by the College Board, allows students to earn college credit by demonstrating their mastery of college-level material in a range of introductory subjects. This program offers individuals of all ages the opportunity to earn credit for undergraduate courses through standardized exams. CLEP exams are available every Tuesday, at our Testing Center, located in Holland Hall, Room 310.

DANTES Subject Standardized Test (DSST)

The DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSSTs) are exams that allow students to earn college credit by demonstrating proficiency in a variety of subjects. Originally developed for military personnel, DSST exams are now available to civilian test-takers as well. While similar to CLEP exams, DSSTs differ slightly in format and subject offerings.

DSST exams are administered through our Testing Center, located in Holland Hall, Room 310.

Distance Testing

Distance testing services are for students who are taking online courses through a institution that requires students to sit for a proctored exam in their course of study. Distance testing is done by appointment only, we do not accept walk-ins,distance testing is provided at Holland Hall, Room 310. All test must be completed by 4:00pm, there are no distance testing appointments on weekends.

Graduate Record Examination (GRE)

The Graduate Record Examination is widely accepted for admission to graduate programs. The GRE is available as a computer-based-test and it is administered at the TSU Computer-Based Testing Center located on the Avon Williams Campus. All students wishing to take the GRE must complete all registration actions and pay for their exam online with GRE.

HiSET Exam

The HISET test is a high school equivalency testing program that will help students take the next step toward a college degree or a rewarding career. The HISET program was created to provide students with a more affordable alternative to other high school equivalency tests. You can earn the credentials you need to continue your education or to succeed in the workplace.

The HISET Exam is offered at Holland Hall, Room 310  Monday through Friday.  Additionally it is offered in the Computer-Based testing lab (Room 220) at Avon Williams on Wednesday.

PRAXIS

The PRAXIS Series tests are for those seeking admission to a teacher education program or seeking teacher certification /licensure. The PRAXIS exam is offered at our Testing Center on the Avon Williams Campus, Room 220.  For more information about PRAXIS, please visit www.ets.org/praxis

 

Senior Exit Exam

(ON CAMPUS AND REMOTE TESTING)

The Senior Exit Exam is a computer-based assessment administered both in person and remotely. There is no fee to take the exam. Graduating seniors should refer to the Testing Schedule for upcoming dates and times the exam will be offered. Please note that this exam is a graduation requirement and must be completed before a degree can be awarded.

TN eCAMPUS (Midterm and Final Exams)

The TSU Testing Center provides proctoring services for students enrolled in TN eCampus courses. Exams are administered either by computer or on paper, depending on the instructor’s preference, at the Testing Center located in Room 310 of Holland Hall. Students are strongly encouraged to confirm with their individual online instructors which exams they are required to take.

TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)

The TOEFL is a widely respected, standardized test that measures English proficiency for non-native speakers. Commonly required for university admission, visas, scholarships, and jobs, the internet-based test (TOEFL iBT) evaluates reading, listening, speaking, and writing skills, with scores ranging from 0 to 120, valid for two years. TOEFL exams are administered at the TSU Computer-Based Testing Center on the Avon Williams Campus, Room 220.
