Students With a Bachelor's Degree in Another Major

Preparing for the Speech Pathology Program

 

Prerequisites

It is not necessary to have a bachelor’s degree in the area of speech-language pathology to apply to the Master of Science Program in Speech and Hearing Science in the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology. Applicants who do not have a Bachelor’s degree in Speech Pathology or Communication Disorders are required to complete 15 hours of prerequisite courses. Students must  apply  to the Graduate School as a non-degree-seeking student. 

NOTE: Admission to the Graduate School as a “non-degree seeking” student does not indicate or guarantee admission to the Speech Pathology and Audiology graduate program.

Once notification of admissions is granted by the Graduate School, contact Dr. Terrie Gibson at  tgibson2@tnstate.edu and an advisor will be assigned from the Department. Please contact Dr. Gibson  with additional questions regarding prerequisite courses and scheduling of informational tours.
