CEREMONY INFORMATION

Dr. Glenda Baskin Glover will be formally sworn in as president during a 9 a.m. investiture program in the Howard Gentry Center on Friday, October 25, 2013. Local and state political leaders, as well as delegates representing other academic institutions, will join Tennessee State University officials and representatives in procession. This event is open to the public. Doors will open at 7 a.m. This academic regalia is medieval in origin, when students and faculty wore the robes of the clergy. Academic attire began to appear on United States campuses in the late 1890s. Since that time its use has become customary solely for university functions.
