Tennessee State University proudly announces the inauguration of Dr. Glenda Baskin Glover as the eighth president of the institution. The Memphis, Tennessee native and TSU alumna was selected earlier this year and will be sworn in Friday, October 25, 2013. Ushering in bold ideas with systematic changes, President Glover's vision is to take Tennessee State to new heights through academics, inclusion, diversity and service. Appropriately, the inauguration's theme selected by President Glover is "Tennessee State University: A New Century, A New Direction for Excellence."

The investiture of a university president is an exciting time for students, faculty, staff and alumni as the institution prepares for its highest-ranking officer to be installed. The academic and civic communities convene to celebrate shared values as the individual has conferred upon her the ceremonial accoutrements of office.

While the presence of delegates representing other academic institutions is an impressive and colorful display of caps, gowns and hoods, like that of a commencement exercise, it is the president's inaugural address that is the highlight of the investiture ceremony. It is a time to articulate the strengths, goals and direction of the university.
