Chemistry students Founded in 1912, Tennessee State University is one of the nation's preeminent historically black universities. TSU is a comprehensive, urban co-educational, land-grant institution comprised of seven colleges and schools offering 45 bachelor's degree programs, 24 master's programs, and awards doctoral degrees in biological sciences, computer information systems engineering, psychology, public administration, curriculum and instruction, educational administration and supervision, and physical therapy. TSU has been consistently listed in U.S. News & World Report’s “Guide to America’s Best Colleges” for more than a dozen years, maintaining one of the highest graduation rates among the nation’s historically black colleges and universities (HBCU) and the highest in the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) system.

Today, the institution enjoys a diverse and engaged student body, including students from 35 countries, along with experienced and credentialed faculty under the leadership of President Glenda Baskin Glover.
