Fred Nelson
Trombone and Euphonium
Fred Nelson is the Adjunct Professor of Trombone and Euphonium at Tennessee State University. He holds the Bachelor of Music Education degree from Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, TN and the Master of Music in Trombone Performance degree from the University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ. His teachers are Dr. Joshua Hauser and Moises Paiewonsky, respectively.
Mr. Nelson has performed with Cookeville's Bryan Symphony Orchestra and held the position of 2nd Trombone in the Sierra Vista Symphony in Sierra Vista, AZ for two years. He also spent some time on the salsa music scene in Tucson, playing with Descarga and Salsarengue. In the summer of 2010, Mr. Nelson went on tour to China with the University of Arizona Jazz Ensemble, performing in cities from Beijing to Shanghai. Mr. Nelson has been coached in masterclasses by Joseph Alessi, Warren Deck, Jorgen Van Rijen, Nitzan Haroz, Carol Jantsch, Trombones de Costa Rica, Michael Powell and John Rojak.
