Ai Ishihara

Ai Ishihara, a native of Tokyo, Japan, began her classical piano training at the age of five. Prior to her college studies, she received private piano lessons from Mrs. Kyoko Hirai and Dr. Alina Voicu. In August 2007, she received a Bachelors of Music degree in Piano Performance from the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa where she studied under Mrs. Amanda Penick. As a freshman in college, she won first place in the Birmingham Music Club as well as the Stillman College piano competitions. She also received an honorary membership in the Society of Pi Kappa Lambda during this time. She completed her a Master of Science degree in 2009 in Music Education from Tennessee State University where she studied with Mrs. Carol Gafford and Dr. Vicki King. At Tennessee State University, she serves as professor of music teaching class piano, Theory & Aural Skills II, accompanist, private piano instructor and workshop lecturer.
