From switchgears to smart solutions, the future of energy is engineered. TSU IEEE 20 students and faculty advisor Dr. Ghosh had the chance to witness it up close in April 2025.  The lab is at Smyrna, TN. TSU alumni  Joshua Buford  joined them and gave engineering students insight from his work experience at  Schneider Electric . It was an incredible opportunity to walk through their cutting-edge lab and get a closer look at the innovative work happening behind the scenes. They explored several advanced technologies and systems including switchgears, switchboards, circuit breakers, generator capacity reporting, microgrids, and energy modeling. They were fascinated by their approach to delivering Engineered-To-Order (ETO) equipment, designed to meet the unique needs of their customers. Everything they have learned in Circuits I, Instrumentation Automatic Control, and Mechatronics Lab courses is now starting to click. It helped them see the real purpose behind what we learn. This tour has regained their passion for electrical systems, and they are always grateful for the opportunity to connect with industry professionals.
