TLSAMP

Partnering to Increase the Under-represented in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math

Tennessee State University (TSU) and the following universities:

  • LeMoyne-Owen College (LOC),
  • Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU),
  • University of Memphis (Memphis),
  • University of Tennessee at Knoxville (UTK), and
  • Vanderbilt University (Vanderbilt)

have partnered to form the Tennessee Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (TLSAMP).  The goal of the TLSAMP program is to increase the number of the underrepresented science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) students by at least 100% at the end of the five-year period. The objectives to support the goal of the alliance are to:

  •     recruit underrepresented students to pursue science or engineering as a career
  •     improve the quality of the learning environment for underrepresented science and engineering students at all schools
  •     ensure that a larger number of undergraduate students are prepared to enter graduate programs
