MS in DS

Goal

The Master of Science in Data Science program delivered online prepares data science professionals to serve local, national, and global demand for advanced degree in data science and related areas.

Program Outcomes

The Program Outcomes (PO) for the MS in DS Program describe the career and professional accomplishments that the Program is preparing graduates to achieve in three to five years after graduation. POs are listed as follows:

  1. The MS in DS Program prepares students for employment in data science or closely related fields or for PhD education.
  2. Graduates are expected to demonstrate professional growth evidenced by measurable development activities and leadership roles.

Student Learning Outcomes

The Student Learning Outcomes (SLO) for the MS in DS Program reflect the skills, knowledge and behaviors of the students at the time of their graduation. They focus on (1) analyzing complex data science problems, (2) developing computing-based solutions, (3) developing effective communication skills and (4) having leadership roles in the discipline. SLOs are listed as follows:

  1. Analyze a complex data science problem and to apply principles of computing, applied mathematics, and statistics and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.
  2. Design, implement and evaluate a data science solution to meet a given set of requirements.
  3. Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts.
  4. Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program’s discipline.
