Dr. Johnnie C. Smith

Assistant Vice Presdient for Dual Enrollment and Academic Support

Dr. Johnnie C. Smith serves as the Assistant Vice-President for Dual Enrollment & Academic Support at Tennessee State University. She leads, develops, administers, negotiates, and oversees high school districts statewide and international partnerships online and on-ground courses.  She also implements policies to promote career degree pathways that leads to degree completion.  Prior to joining the SMART Technology Innovation Division, Dr. Smith served as a senior level administrator in various departments at TSU. In these leadership capacities, Dr. Smith created a strong academic enrichment center for student athletes; worked with developing educational opportunities for veterans and authored several enhancement grants.  Dr. Smith has a proven track record of successes throughout her career in the private, state, and federal sectors. 

Dr. Smith is a published Book Author; Success Coach, Financial Consultant, Certified Apple Teacher, an HBCU Innovator and a Former Entrepreneur. She has received numerous awards, such as the Administrator of the Year Award; the Greater Nashville Alliance Higher Education Award; Congratulations Award Card from the former President Barack Obama; the NAACP Image Literary Book Award Nominee; National Model Practices Satellite Tutoring Award; TSU Outstanding Alumna and the OVC Academic Achievement Banner Award.  Dr. Smith attended Tuskegee Institute (University) and completed her B.S. in Public Management from Austin Peay State University.  She holds a M.S. in Human Services & Counseling from Murray State University, and an Ed.D. in Administration & Supervision from Tennessee State University.
