Where could a degree in Accounting take me?

 

Accounting is a critical business function for of every organization imaginable.  This fact affords accounting graduates a wide variety of career choices upon successful completion of our program.  For those that learn the fundamental skills, coupled with problem solving abilities, the opportunities are limitless.  Public accounting consists of the Big-Four” international CPA firms, in addition to national, regional, and local firms.  Accountants in the public sector may pursue interest in auditing, taxation, financial accounting, or management advisory services.

 

The private accounting industry offers graduates a chance to pursue managerial accounting, cost accounting or internal auditing careers.  The Not-For-Profit sector includes federal, state and local governments; colleges and universities; health care institutions, and other nonprofit organizations.

 

During the program, some of our students uncovered a passion for this discipline wanting it reflected in their professional credentials.  For those students we take pride in knowing our program positions you for graduate level studies.  We also put you on track for successful attainment of the industry coveted Certified Public Accountants (CPA) designation. Our students are on record scoring as high as 96 on the CPA exam. 

 

Pure practitioners of business development that possess an aptitude for this discipline are encouraged to establish their own accounting firm.  Although very challenging, some of our graduates dedicated themselves to creating their own path through entrepreneurial endeavors recognizing accounting as their method.  It was here they developed the fundamental accounting skill sets and work ethic to do so.  You too can be among them by joining us.

The Accounting Department in the College of Business is positioned to supply the global market with well-trained, competent, and trust-worthy future leaders through our accounting course curriculum offerings.  As an accounting student, it is also important that you develop the additional skills necessary to position yourself for the most lucrative and competitive opportunities available.  Students that successfully complete our program are poised to become a productive and responsible accounting leader prepared to address crucial business needs.

 

Our faculty and administrators, along with the corporate accounting leaders represented on our advisory board, work in concert to ensure our curriculum is challenging, purposeful, and relevant to the accounting industry.

 

Our curriculum is designed to produce graduates who will be:

The faculty and staff assembled are passionate, seasoned, and determined to provide you with the skill sets required to fulfill your academic goals.  Faculty are equipped with first-hand background knowledge of industry trends which allows them to paint a vivid picture of why today’s principles are widely utilized and why preceding methods became obsolete.  This gives you the ability to not simply memorize principles, but understand the “why” that supports their origin.
