Jeanne L. Golden Biography

Jeanne Golden

Welcome to my world of oil painting!

I began oil painting in 2008 under the direction of David Gillihan of Artists on Main in Goodlettsville, Tennessee.  Since that time, I have continued to grow in my craft by attending workshops and participating in various art shows and festivals in the Middle Tennessee area.  In addition,  I am known around the Artists on Main studio as the “Studio Assistant” to David Gillihan in that I assist him in technical aspects of running a studio and gallery such as maintaining the website and Facebook page and preparation and planning of the festivals and art shows that we participate in.

I am mostly a realist painter; however, I enjoy trying new techniques, mediums, and surfaces on which to paint.  Painting has taught me patience and the willingness to challenge myself.  I have learned that you never really “get it” to the point to where you think “Okay, now I know how to paint.”  Every painting I approach has its own set of challenges and I believe that’s what keeps me interested.

Although I have been very blessed to have sold several of my paintings, it has never been about the money.  It is always about the thrill of the challenge put before me in the beginning and then the thrill from the look on my client’s face when they first see the completed painting.  In the very first workshop I took, the artist said, “Even if no one ever bought another one of my paintings, I would still paint.”  That is exactly how I feel about it today.  I cannot imagine my life without a canvas, a good brush and some colorful paint in it.
