Parking Permits, and Lot Parking

Parking Permit Information 

Regular Parking Permits – Available August 4, 2025

  • For all non-reserved permits, your license plate is your decal

  • No physical sticker or hangtag will be issued

Reserved / Gated Parking Permits – Available September 2, 2025

  • Reserved permit holders must visit Hankal Hall in person to pick up their hangtag

How to Obtain Parking Permit (Students & Employees)

Students & employees will need the following documents to upload into the parking system: 

  • Vehicle Registration/Renewal Form
  • Current Proof of Insurance
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Valid TSU ID
  • {for Disability Permit only} - State-Issued Disabled Placard or
  • {for Disability Permit only} - State-Issued Registration Form for the Disabled Placard

Disability Placards

 

The University requires all students, faculty, and staff with a state-issued disability permit to also obtain a regular Tennessee State University parking permit. In addition, the state-issued permit must be visibly displayed on the rearview mirror, or a state-issued disability license plate must be used.

 

Visitors - How to Park at TSU

Parking is now more convenient with hourly paid options available in designated lots across campus. Simply look for the signs posted around campus with the QR code below. 

Visitors may park for $1 per hour or $5 per day, Monday–Friday, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m

Parking Permit Information

  • Validity: Parking permits are valid from September 1 to August 31 of the following year.

  • Availability: Permits for the new academic year go on sale during the last week of August.

  • Student Permits: The cost of one student parking permit is included in tuition fees.

  • Employee Permits:

    • $120.00 for general permits

    • $300.00 for reserved permits

⚠️ Note: Reserved and gated parking spaces are limited. Please contact the Parking Services Office for availability. You may also add yourself to the waiting list through the Self-Service Parking Portal in Banner.

✅ For all non-reserved permits, your license plate is your permit (no physical decal needed).

Free parking  is now available for faculty and staff who choose to opt out of purchasing an annual parking permit. These designated areas are located in Lots UU, Z, and at the Incubation Center downtown, and are available on a first-come, first-served basis until full. 

Once these lots reach capacity, you will be required to purchase hourly or daily parking by scanning the visitors QR code and selecting your intended parking lot.

Event Parking

Parking in Hale Stadium lots may be preempted for university events, including home football games, basketball games, special events, and commencement.

Signs will be posted at the entrance of affected parking lots at least one day in advance, indicating the date(s) of restriction. Vehicles remaining in the lot after the posted restriction begins are subject to ticketing and may be towed.

Payment can be made online (instructions below) or at the Cashier's Office, located on the 1st floor in the  McWherter Building.

Personal checks, money orders and cashiers checks only. DO NOT MAIL CASH.

The citation number, located in the top right corner of the ticket, must be printed on the check/money order or the ticket must be included with payment.
 

APPEAL YOUR CITATION      
Appeals must be filed within 10 days from date listed on the citation.  Appeals must be filed online (via Manage Your Parking Account above).  If you have questions, please call the Parking Services Office at  (615) 963-1482   .    
Failure to pay your citation or appeal your citation in a timely manner will result in a hold being placed on your account, which will result in your inability to register, receive, transcripts or graduate until the citation is paid.   

All vehicles parked on campus must have a campus parking permit and must comply with the state registration requirements. 

** NOTICE: REPEAT OFFENSES DOUBLE THE FINE.
