BIO

Born and raised in Genoa, Italy, Dr. Francesco Masala joined Tennessee State University as an Assistant Professor of Spanish in the fall of 2021. After obtaining his Ph.D. in Hispanic Studies with emphasis in Sociolinguistics from the University of Kentucky, he worked for different universities in Florida and Kentucky while continuing developing his research. His research interests include, but are not limited to, sociolinguistics, Critical Race Theory, Migration Studies, and Critical Discourse Analysis. Currently, Dr. Masala is working on his autobiography 'No White No More: A Memoir of a Former Italian' which he is planning on completing in the summer of 2022.
