ABOUT THE JOURNAL

JSHR is an academic journal of the Department of History, Geography, Political Science, and Africana Studies, Tennessee State University. It is devoted to publishing outstanding research and scholarly essays by students of the department on issues of historical importance. The articles and other publications in the journal deal with a broad range of issues on political, economic, social, cultural, intellectual, and diplomatic history of the United States and other lands. Each volume of the journal contains senior projects, primary sources essays, and book reviews.

The journal aims at promoting student research, writing, and general academic development through scholarly publication. It provides free access to full PDF version of articles which can be downloaded and printed. The journal is published once a year in January.
