Dr. Jermakowicz, Eva

Eva K. Jermakowicz, Ph.D., CPA, Professor of Accounting and Chair of the Accounting Department at Tennessee State University has taught accounting for more than twenty-five years and has served as a consultant to international organizations and businesses. Her previous positions were at the University of Southern Indiana and at Warsaw Tech University in Poland. Dr. Jermakowicz was a Fulbright scholar in Brussels, Belgium, for the academic year 2003-2004, and in Poland in 1997. She also has consulted on international projects under the auspices of the World Bank, United Nations, and Nicom Con¬sulting, Ltd. Her primary areas of interest are international accounting and finance. Dr. Jermakowicz is the co-author of Wiley IFRS 10: Interpretation and Application of International Financial Reporting Standards and Wiley IFRS Policies and Procedures. She has had numerous articles published in academic journals and proceedings, including Abacus, the Journal of International Accounting, Auditing & Taxation, Journal of International Financial Management & Accounting, Multinational Finance Journal, Journal of Accounting and Finance Research, Bank Accounting & Finance, Financial Executive, and Strategic Finance. She is a member of many professional organizations, including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, American Accounting Association, European Accounting Association, the Tennessee CPA Society, and the Institute of Management Accountants. |

Dr. Banham, Richard

Richard L. Banham holds a Doctorate and Law Degree from the University of Texas. He maintains an active CPA license in Tennessee and actively participates in Accounting and Information Systems professional groups including The Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants and National Association of Black Accountants. As a member of the Nashville Institute of Management Accountants Chapter, he has served as a board member since 2007 and several additional key leadership positions including President, President-Elect and Vice President for Professional Development. Dr. Banham represented the Chapter at the 2011 IMA National Convention where he also participated in additional continuing education courses on Integrated Reporting and Sustainability. He is actively involved in the Microsoft Dynamic Academic Alliance, an academic user group, and in AXUG, Microsoft Dynamics AX users group. He has consulted with manufacturing firms, small retail establishments, and other small business on strategy, information systems, tax, and accounting. He has earned several Microsoft Certifications and is currently working toward a certification in Risk Management. His current research areas include Cloud Computing, Business Continuity Management, and Risk Management. | |

Dr. Hayes, Robert

Dr. Robert Hayes received a B.S. degree in 1974 and a M.B.A. degree in 1976, both from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN. He received a Ph.D. degree in 1986 from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, AR. He also holds the CPA, CMA, and ChFC accounting related designations. He has published articles in The Accounting Review, Accounting Education: an International Journal, Taxation for Accountants, Journal of Financial Service Professionals, and numerous other academic and practitioner journals. | |

Dr. Maples, Larry
Professor

Dr. Larry Maples, CPA, Professor of Accounting, previously served on the faculty at the University of Louisville, the University of Arkansas and Tennessee Technological University. He is the author of “Tax Accounting for Long-Term Contracts” in Commerce Clearing House’s Federal Tax Service. He has published more than ninety articles in professional journals including The Journal of Taxation, The Tax Adviser, Journal of Accountancy, Taxes, Tax Notes, International Journal of Accounting, The Tax Executive, Practical Tax Strategies, CPA Journal, The Practical Accountant, and others. He has been the recipient of several awards for both teaching and research. He was named a “Prolific Author of Accounting Literature” in a 2002 study of the top 40 accounting related journals. Larry and his wife Mary Jeanne have three children. His favorite summertime activities are visiting baseball parks and riding his bicycle thru the countryside. | |

Dimeta Smith, CPA

Dimeta received her Bachelor of Business Administration Degree with a major in Accounting from Tennessee State University. She obtained her Master of Accountancy Degree from Belmont University. Dimeta is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the State of Tennessee. Her professional experience includes over 14 years of accounting, tax preparation and consulting experience serving as Internal Auditor and System Implementation Consultant for Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) and Chief Financial Officer for Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center. She currently owns and operates her own accounting and consulting practice in Nashville, TN. She is a member of the Nashville Chapter of the Tennessee State University Alumni Association, National Association of Black Accountants, Inc. and the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants. She currently serves as Vice Chairperson of the Accounting Advisory Board for Tennessee State University’s College of Business. |
