Research and publications

  • Presented a paper at the 25th Annual TNADE Conference, Dickson, TN, 2009. The paper titled as “Blended Math course; achieve discernible improvements in both course quality and students academic progress”
  • Participated in writing the proposal for redesign the Blended College Algebra course; this is a combination of Intermediate Algebra and College Algebra, offered fall 2008-present.
  • Book review, review of “Beginning & Intermediate Algebra”, 2nd edition by Messer Smith, 2008
  • Presented a paper on the 12th Annual Instructional Technology Conference, Murfreesboro, TN, 2007. The paper titled as “Let’s knock some classrooms walls and build a Web-Based learning, interactive multicultural environment among our online students”.  Paper was published on Education Resources Information center (ERIC)
  • Presented a paper on the 23rd Annual TNADE Conference, Gatlinburg, TN, 2007.
    The paper titled as “Put the Earth in your students’ hands, and knock down some classroom walls”
    Served as a Session Moderator on the Conference. 
  • D esigned two Mathematics course online on WebCT then redesigned them on Desire to Learn (D2L) which are: Basic Calculus (MATH1830) and Basic Mathematics (DSPM0700).
    As a member in the AEAO/e-Learning Committee, designed the Math Virtual Learning Center on D2L and continue expanding the center materials to enhance students learning among TSU different discipline such as Math, Business, and Nursing.
  • Presented a paper on the 18th Annual TNADE Conference, Gatlinburg, TN, 2002.
    The paper titled as “Web language, let’s make it easier for our online students”
     

GRANTS

SAFRA Grant  May 2011 – Tennessee State University/Physics and Mathematics Department:
Using Technology in the Classroom in Mathematics Courses to improve retention and graduation efforts while developing new models for working with students in the STEM areas.

Service Learning Mini Grant (two grants) 
December, 2008 – Tennessee State University Service Learning grant: Approved for a mini grant to teach Intermediate Algebra course as a service learning course.
March, 2011 - Tennessee State University Service Learning grant:
Approved for a mini grant to design and teach College Algebra and Basic Calculus as a service learning courses.

Wal-Mart Minority Students Initiative Grant within Learning in Communities Program (LinC).
Planning and theme development for classes involved in the Learning in Communities Program.
