Dual Admission Program with Nashville State
A Pathway for Your Four-Year Degree
The Dual Admission Program (DAP) between Nashville State Technical Community College (NSCC) and Tennessee State University (TSU) offers students a structured, guaranteed pathway for attaining a four year baccalaureate degree. The goal of this agreement is to provide a seamless and guaranteed transition from a Nashville State Community College associate degree to a Tennessee State University bachelor's degree by providing one curriculum plan for earning both degrees.
Dual admission program provides access to advisement and other support services. Students in the Dual Admission Program may attend TSU sporting and cultural events, use TSU facilities, and participate in opportunities for educational and personal enrichment at TSU.
Who is eligible to Apply for Dual Admission?
The Dual Admission Program accommodates students who plan to earn a transfer degree from NSCC and earn a baccalaureate degree from TSU. The following students are eligible:
- Students who meet current admission criteria at both institutions (NSCC and TSU)
- Students who plan to attend NSCC or who transfer with no more than 30 college-level semester hours
- Students currently enrolled at NSCC who have taken no more than 30 transferable hours
- Students who intend to major in one of the eligible baccalaureate programs
Dual Admission Programs
- A.S. in Health Care Management leading to the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Health Care Administration and Planning.
- Associate of Science in Teaching (A.S.T.) K-6 Curriculum leading to (B.S.) degree in Arts and Sciences (Interdisciplinary Studies) with Teacher Certification in Elementary Education Grades K-6.
- A.S. degree in Pre-Nursing, leading to the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Nursing.
- A.S. degree in Pre-Engineering, leading to the Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical and Industrial Technology.
- A.A. degree in History, leading to the Bachelor of Arts degree in History.
- A.A. degree in English, leading to the Bachelor of Arts degree in English.
- A.A. degree in Music, leading to the Bachelor of Arts degree in Music, with Concentrations in: Commercial Music, Music Education - Instrumental, & Music Education - Vocal.
- A.S. degree in Early Childhood Education, leading to the Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education.
- A.S. degree in Business Information Systems, leading to the Bachelor of Science in Business.
- A.S. degree in Biology, leading to the Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Sciences, with Concentrations in: Pre-veterinary Medicine, Animal Science, & Plant and Soil Science.
What are the students' responsibilities?
Students must apply and be admitted to Nashville State.
Students must complete an application for Dual Admission and a non-binding Intent-to-Enroll form.
Students must earn an associate degree from Nashville State Community College.
Students must successfully complete the required Dual Admission Program for their intended major at Tennessee State University, including a 2.5 GPA and any other TSU admission requirements specific to their major.
Students may not attend another institution between the time they graduate from NSCC and formally enroll at TSU.
