The Center offers services which assist students in personal decision-making processes and the development and refinement of intrapersonal, interpersonal, and social relations.  Counseling services are also available to each student regarding vocational, educational, crisis issues.  Professional counselors are available to meet with students on an individual or group basis. Students may visit the Center on a voluntary basis with or without a referral. Confidentiality is maintained, and appointments can be made in  person or by telephone. Under the umbrella of the Counseling Center, there are other services and programs. They are as follows:

VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION SERVICES - services are provided for disabled students designed to assist them in functioning within the University setting and to enable them to participate fully in all of TSU's academic, social, and cultural activities. A Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor is available to provide individualized services in the areas of orientation, admissions, mobility, registration, parking, housing, and campus activities. These Vocational Rehabilitation Services are in accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.

ACADEMIC ATHLETIC PROGRAM - offers an added outreach to all athletes for the purpose of high academic achievement through time management, tutorial assistance, study tips and social concerns.

CONSULTATION SERVICES - are available to student organizations, faculty, departments of the University and outside agencies upon request (speaking to groups on stress management, conflict resolution, etc.). The Counseling Center also provides outreach activities for students regarding Substance Abuse, Date Rape, Grief, Stress Management, Assertiveness Skills, etc. which are open to the Campus community and their guests.
 

WITHDRAWING FROM THE UNIVERSITY - the University Counseling Center is the first office to report to when a student wishes to withdraw from the University.
