ABOUT TENNESSEE STATE UNIVERSITY
Founded in 1912, Tennessee State University is one of the nation's preeminent historically black universities. TSU is a comprehensive, urban co-educational, land-grant institution comprised of seven colleges and schools offering 45 bachelor's degree programs, 24 master's programs. The university also awards doctoral degrees in biological sciences, computer information systems engineering, psychology, public administration, curriculum and instruction, educational administration and supervision, and physical therapy. Nestled in the heart of "Music City" (Nashville, Tennessee), the University has worldwide appeal as a producer of groundbreaking research, trailblazing business and political leaders, Olympic champions, and an unwavering sense of pride and commitment to serving the business community and others through economic and community development.
TSU has been consistently listed in the “ Guide to America’s Best Colleges ” in U.S. News & World Report for more than a dozen years. The institution also continuously maintains one of the highest graduation rates among the nation’s historically black colleges and universities (HBCU) and the highest in the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) system.
Today, the institution enjoys a diverse and engaged student body, including students from 35 countries, along with experienced and credentialed faculty under the leadership of President Glenda Baskin Glover. Ushering in bold ideas with systematic changes, President Glover's vision is to take Tennessee State University to new heights through rigorous academic offerings, comprehensive inclusion and cultural diversity initiatives, and life long service to others.
