What Can I Do With a Career in Accounting?
A TSU accounting graduate is prepared to work in both the public and private sectors. Public sector opportunities include auditing, tax, and advisory services with local, regional or national accounting firms. Private sector opportunities include managerial accounting, internal audit, forensic accounting, and financial analysis. Additional opportunities are available in local, state, and federal agencies.
A TSU accounting graduate can achieve even greater financial success by obtaining one or more of the following certifications:
- Certified Public Accountant, CPA
- Certified Management Accountant, CMA
- Certified Internal Auditor, CIA
- Certified Fraud Examiner, CFE
- Certified Information Systems Auditor, CISA
- Certified in Control Self-Assessment, CCSA
- Certified Government Auditing Professional, CGAP
- Certified Financial Services Auditor (CFSA)
- Certified Government Financial Manager, CGFM
Accounting graduates can also obtain accreditations:
- Accredited Business Advisor
- Accredited Tax Advisor
- Accredited Tax Preparer
Each of these areas requires work experience and many have additional educational requirements, but all are based on an accounting education.
