The Civil and Architectural Program offers degrees in both Civil Engineering and Architectural Engineering. Each program is detailed below.
CIVIL ENGINEERING
The Civil Engineering program prepares student to work in various civil engineering projects involving:
- design,
- construction,
- management and
- operation.
Typical areas include design and construction of:
- high rise buildings (e.g. Empire State Building),
- bridges (such as the Brooklyn Bridge),
- dams (such as Hoover Dam),
- roads (for example interstate highways) and
- airports (example O'Hare Airport),
- water supply Systems (for example the clean water we drink daily),
- waste management systems for disposal of waste water into sewers and
- development of housing subdivisions and shopping centers.

ARCHITECTURAL ENGINEERING
Architectural Engineering is the profession that offers an integrated, multi-disciplinary approach to the:
- planning,
- design,
- construction, and
- operation of buildings.
Architectural engineers have the primary responsibility for the design of:
- structural,
- heating,
- cooling,
- electrical,
- lighting, and
- fire protection systems
for all building types
but may also design systems for:
- acoustical,
- communications,
- water and waste water,
- vibration, and
- site plan analysis and orientation.
