Submit your application and materials as early as possible in your senior year of high school. All documents must be received no later than 45 days before the start of the semester you want to enroll.

Steps to Apply for Admission to TSU

  1. Complete and submit the online application with your $25 non-refundable application fee (Fee Waivers are not accepted), or download the PDF application, complete, and submit it with your fee.
  2. Create your password-protected online Future Tiger account to track the status of your application for admission throughout the process. Allow 24-48 hours to start receiving updates.
  3. Submit an official report of the ACT (American College Test; minimum score 19) or SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test; minimum score 900).
  4. Hold a high school GPA of 2.25 un-weighted (in state) or 2.50 un-weighted (out of state), or complete the COMPASS Placement Test if you are over 21 and do not hold valid ACT scores.
  5. Request that your high school forward an official transcript covering all academic work completed through the first semester of 12th grade. Your final high school transcript, stating the date of your graduation, must be submitted during the week following your high school graduation.
  6. Meet the Tennessee State Admissions Unit Requirements if you graduated from high school after June 1989.
  7. Submit proof of measles vaccination or an acceptable immunization document (Permanent Tennessee Certificate of Immunization form PH-2414 or equivalent immunization from another state) if you were born after January 1, 1957.

 
If you are 18 years or older and completing the GED, you must hold a minimum composite score of 450 to be considered for admission to TSU.

  • Request the testing agency to forward your GED results to Tennessee State University.
  • Request that the high school or record center forward your official transcript.

 If you are a transfer student, you must also

  • Submit an official transcript from each college or university attended
  • Hold a minimum 2.00 Cumulatve GPA from all colleges/universities attended.
  • Submit a high school transcript if you have not earned a bachelor degree.
