About the Academy

The COVID-19 Academy at TSU is a direct response to the pandemic that our world is facing today. It has been established to provide resources, training, and educational assistance to the local, state, and national communities. The Nashville area will benefit from the COVID-19 Academy which will be housed in the College of Health Sciences at Tennessee State University. The Academy will consist of two components: (1) Resource Assistance and (2) Online and Certificate Learning.

 

 

Resource Assistance

  • Telehealth resources such as connecting residents with doctors to receive real time medical assistance.

  • Food service resources including a listing of local food banks, food pantries, and other outlets where local residents can go to pick up food.

  • Distributing Frequently Asked Questions and Fact Sheets

  • Work force development initiatives that will include a listing of open jobs in the Nashville area.

 

Online & Certificate Learning

  • Webinars on outreach, community gardening and preparedness

  • Workforce development retooling and re-entry

  • Entrepreneurship and small business development 

  • A for-credit course will be offered in app development

  • Continuing education for healthcare individuals 

  • Developing soft skills
  • Preparing resumes and interview preparation
