Computer Accounts

Initial Setup (network, email, myTSU, etc.)

SYSTEMS AT TSU

As a student/employee at TSU, you will have these system log-ins:

TSU network login (used for logging onto computers on campus);
To use any other system on campus, you must first login to the network!
myTSU system login (myTSU is the student portal at TSU and is used for course activity, student financial info, and grades)
LiveMail (students only) -the email system for TSU students.. All TSU correspondence will be sent to this address.

....and some students/employees will have access to:

eLearn (online courses)

HOW TO SETUP ---

STEP 1 - GET FAMILIAR

Get familiar with and assign passwords for the accounts assigned to you. Passwords are initially set to a combination of letters and numbers based upon information that is unique to you. More information is below on each system and how to setup your password for each system.

NOTE: The password for eLearn, Windows Live e-Mail, and the campus network are the same, but myTSU uses a different password.

** FOR LIVE MAIL (students only): Please note that you must initially reset your password to enable your Live Mail account to work properly. Details are in the table further below.

Follow the instructions for "Network/Windows" FIRST below because you must be able to login to the network before you can login to any other systems.

STEP 2 - SET YOUR PASSWORDS

To setup your accounts and set your passwords, visit Password Manager.

Used to access computers on both the main & downtown campuses of TSU....allowing students to login to the TSU network to access the
Internet, software applications, printers, other systems, etc.

When you begin to use any computer on campus, the PC will prompt you to login to the network first.

Password is based upon your T-Number

T (upper case)
Plus the first 5 digits of your T# Plus tsu (lower case)

Example:
T-Number = T12345678
Password = T12345tsu

Password reset:
CTRL-ALT-DEL at a campus workstation OR via www.tnstate.edu/password.

After you have reset your password, your new password applies to your eLearn, Windows Live, and Campus network accounts. All three systems use the same login and password.

myTSU

Student website to
register for classes, check grades and
account balances, pay bills, access
electronic mail, etc.

mytsu.tnstate.edu

(may be accessed on or off of campus.)

The initial password will be your six-digit birthdate (mmddyy)

Example:
If your birthdate is January 1, 1991,
Then your password will be 010191.

Password reset:
Forced reset at the first login, and required to be reset every 180 days (the system will notify you when it needs to be reset.)

New and Returning Students – You MUST reset your Windows password first in order to access your Win Live email account.

HOW TO RESET WINDOWS ACCOUNT:
http://www.tnstate.edu/password

*Note: the Windows password will also be your Windows Live (email) password.

Your Windows Live e-mail address/username is username@my.tnstate.edu
(example: a user with the username "jsmith" would use: "jsmith@my.tnstate.edu").

Password is based upon your T-Number:

T (upper case)

Example:
If your T-Number is T12345678,
Then your password is T12345tsu.

eLearn

Course Management System for Online Courses

elearn.tnstate.edu

NOTE: New students who have not used eLearn before must change their initial password before they will be able to access the eLearn system. To do so, follow the instructions below.

NOTE: Your eLearn account username is the same as your MyTSU username, however the password will be different.

If you have logged onto a TSU campus computer previously, your eLearn password will be that same password.

If you have never logged onto a TSU campus computer, you must set a new password first at www.tnstate.edu/password.

ENTER THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION:

Domain: tnstate

Account: Your TSU username

Old Password: This may be the default password “T” followed by the first 5 digits of the T number, followed by ‘tsu’. If don’t know your password, send an e-mail to helpdesk@tnstate.edu and the password will be reset for you to your entire T-number starting with a capital T.

New Password: This is a password you create, minimum of 8 characters, upper and lowercase letters and numbers.

Confirm the New Password: Key in the new password again.

*** After you have reset your password, your new password applies to your eLearn, Windows Live, and Campus network accounts. All three systems use the same login and password.
