Dr. Alisa L. Mosley

Dr. Alisa L. Mosley currently serves as the Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs at Tennessee State University. She has been featured in Business Week, Black MBA, Black Issues in Higher Education, and Decision Line.

Dr. Mosley has been excited to research in areas of organizational citizenship behavior, emotional labor, entrepreneurship, organizational commitment, and performance management. In 2007, Dr. Mosley and her colleagues won a Best Paper Award for their research entitled, The Case of Licensed Funeral Directors: An Empirical Investigation of the Dimensions and Consequences of Emotional Labor. This year, she and her co-authors won another Best Paper Award for their research entitled, Individual Level Cultural Orientations and Motivation for College: A Case of Business Students, at the Allied Academies Conference. That work will be published in the Academy of Educational Leadership.

Dr. Mosley has a Ph.D. in business administration from the University of Nebraska. Her areas of emphasis were organizational behavior, organizational theory and human resource management. Dr. Mosley has served as an ASEE fellow with the Department of the Navy, working with the civilian branch of the Navy to develop and implement a formal mentoring program. Additionally, she has conducted training in professional development, leadership, and mentoring. For the past four years, she worked with high school students, training them in the areas of finance, business plan development, marketing and computing.

An active researcher, she has published in several peer-reviewed journals including the Academy of Entrepreneurship Journal, Journal of Leadership Studies, Journal of Management Research, Marketing Strategies, and Organizational Dynamics. She is on the editorial board of the Journal of Leadership and Organizational Studies. Additionally, she has published a case dealing with the transition of U.S. companies to a one-world market, published in one of the top textbooks for graduate-level international business courses. Dr. Mosley received her B.S. degree in business administration and a M.B.A. in finance from Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida.
