How do I join Detachment 790 of AFROTC?

Students do not have to attend TSU to become a cadet at Detachment 790. See the list of schools and registration information below. Additionally, AFROTC is currently accepting sophomores-graduate students for admission into ROTC. Call 615-963-5977 to find out more about how you become an officer in the world's greatest Air Force! 

I am a TSU Student:

Tennessee State University students do not have to apply specifically to ROTC, instead they sign up during registration like a normal class. 

The following are the classes that are required to be a commission seeking AFROTC Cadet:

1. AERO 1010 (lecture) (Offered on Tuesdays from 1:00pm-2:00pm)

2. AERO 1011 (lab) (Offered one time a week Tuesday 2:00pm-4:00pm.  
* PT will also be a portion of AERO 1011 and will occur Tuesdays from 4:00pm-5:00pm and Friday from 6:00am-7:00am)

In addition, the following documents will need to be completed:

Sports Physical
Pre-Participatory Sports Physical
Fitness Screening Questionnaire

I am NOT a TSU Student:

You DO NOT have to be a student at Tennessee State University to become a cadet at Detachment 790.  Many of our cadets come from surrounding schools in the area.

HOW TO APPLY:

If you are a student or are going to be a student at one of the above schools and are interested in joining Det. 790, please do the following:

The following schools are Det 790 cross-town schools:
Austin Peay State University (APSU)
Belmont University (BU)
David Lipscomb University (DLU)
Fisk University (FU)
Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU)
Nashville State Community College (NSCC)
Trevecca Nazarene University (TNU)
Tennessee Technological University (TTU)
Vanderbilt University (VU)
Volunteer State Community College (VSCC)
Welch College (WC)
Western Kentucky University (WKU)

SUBMIT DOCUMENTS:

All Cross-town students application and TSU fee should be mailed (not faxed) to AFROTC Det. 790 Tennessee State University before the deadline in order to enter the program:

Crosstown Application
Medical history
Certificate of Immunization
Meningococcal Meningitis and Hepatitis B Immunization Form
Fitness Screening Questionnaire
Pre-Participatory Sports Physical High school OR college transcripts (not both)

DEADLINES:

The deadline for receiving these documents is:
1 July for Fall term
1 November for Spring term

After the needed documents have been received (about 2-weeks after mailed in), students will be able to register for AFROTC classes through the TSU web site.
