Criminal Justice 2+2 Program

Partnership with Vol State and Motlow

The transfer program allows students who are completing their Associate of Science in Criminal Justice (AS-TTP) at Vol State or Motlow to transfer to Tennessee State University (TSU) to complete the Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice.

Benefits of the Program:

  • You are a TSU criminal justice student, however you will attend classes at the Vol State or Motlow campus.
  • Direct transfer of courses from Vol State or Motlow to TSU.
  • Inexpensive tuition cost per semester $4,092 average, lowest public 4-year university in the State of Tennessee.
  • Complete your Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice in 4 semesters, with 15 credit hours per semester.
  • Small classes with criminal justice classmates from Vol State or Motlow.
  • Utilize the resources and campuses of both Vol State or Motlow and TSU.

 


 

Transfer Student Checklist: Your Roadmap to Success

The key to a smooth transition is ensuring that you have submitted all the necessary information in a timely manner. Use the URLs listed below for more detailed information. Program cohort’s start each fall. You should start this process in fall or early spring, prior to the start the next fall program.

 Please complete these steps:

 1)   Online Admission Application and Application Fee

You will complete an online application and pay your $25.00 application fee online with a credit or debit card. After applying online, you will receive a TSU “T” number 7 to 10 days later in the mail.

2)   Interested students please contact Dr. Burris- Kitchen, at dburriskitchen@tnstate.edu, with the following information:

  • Full name
  • TSU “T” number or Date of Birth
  • Phone number
  • What semester and year you are graduating 
  • What semester and year you plan on starting with the TSU/Vol State or Motlow Criminal Justice Partnership Program

3)   Admissions Documentation:

Official Vol State or Motlow Transcripts mailed to: Office of Admissions, 3500 John A. Merritt Blvd, Nashville, TN 37209

Go to Vol State or Motlow Record's Office to have your official transcripts sent to TSU. On the transcript request form, number of transcripts needed should be two, and check the boxes for “send transcript now”, and the box for “hold until current semester grades are posted.” If you have attended any other college or university, you will need to send an official transcript from every school attended.

4)   Health Services 

Students will need to provide proof of two (2) doses of Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) vaccine on or after the first birthday or proof of immunity to measles. As well as proof of month and year of history of varicella (chicken pox) or two (2) doses of Varicella vaccination.

5)   Financial Aid

Be sure TSU's School Code is listed on your FAFSA: 003522

6)   University ID 

 University ID's are made in Hankal Hall, Room 102. ID's are required at all times on the TSU campus.
