Sue Ballard de Ruiz has worked and taught in interior design for over 25 years.  Her main areas of interest are historic preservation and sustainability.  Her research and drawings have been published in numerous preservation design guidelines manuals and she has lead study tours of historic buildings in Spain.  She developed the first sustainable living course in the TBR system, and has conducted dozens of sustainability workshops for Habitat for Humanity and other community organizations, as well as presented research on sustainable housing both nationally and internationally. She currently serves on Committees for Urban Green Lab Green Schools, the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation Higher Education Sustainability Network, and the Nashville Mayor’s Sustainability Advisory Committee.       - Sue Ballard de Ruiz
