Eligible High-school & GED Students
JOIN US!
The staff of Student Achievement, Retention, & Success welcomes the participation of all eligible high-school and GED students. We hope that high-school seniors who have been admitted to TSU will take advantage of the opportunities this program offers them. They will be given the chance to strengthen their skills in reading, writing, and mathematics and to improve their chances for higher placement in these subjects. They will also be given the opportunity to become acquainted with the STARS Staff and to acquire first-hand knowledge about the area's services that will be available to them when they enter the University in the fall.
GED recipients who have taken the ACT/SAT and have been admitted to the University may join the high-school seniors in the intensive five-week study mentioned above. For those GED recipients who have not taken the ACT/SAT, they may join high-school sophomores and juniors in preparing for the test. For sophomore and junior students, this program affords them an opportunity to strengthen their test-taking skills and to review subjects that will be addressed on the ACT/SAT in hopes of improving their scores.
For all students involved, there is the opportunity to actually participate in instruction on a university campus taught by university professional staff and to form relationships, which will prove invaluable when they enroll in the University.
