Dr. Soumen N. Ghosh is an internationally renowned economist. He is currently the Director of the Office of Business & Economic Research (OBER) at Tennessee State University (TSU). Prior to coming to TSU, Dr. Ghosh has served New Mexico State University (NMSU) as an associate professor of economics. He has served the College of Business Administration & Economics at New Mexico State since 1987. He has been awarded outstanding researcher as well as outstanding graduate teacher in the College of Business Administration & Economics at New Mexico State University.

Dr. Ghosh has consulted with the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, United States Agency for International Development (USAID), United Nations Development Program (UNDP), United States Army Corps of Engineers, US Department of Energy, and many private corporations for over 20 years. His primary areas of consulting include economic analysis of policies, private sector initiative and macroeconomic restructuring, environmental economics, market research, mental health outcome evaluation, database development, and expert testimony.

Through his research efforts Dr. Ghosh has brought several million dollar in grant monies to New Mexico State University. Since his joining at TSU in September 2001, Dr. Ghosh has submitted several grant proposals, and has been awarded several grants/contracts. Through his leadership new research areas at the college of business at TSU has opened up.
