Early Childhood Education

Education of children from birth to age seven focuses on developing the physical, emotional, social, intelligence, and cognitive characteristics of individuals.  It is during this age span that most of the neurons in the child's brain are formed, and studies have shown this period to be crucial in the development of a child's potential for success in life. Without the proper nurturing and stimuli, a child may develop deficits in areas necessary for growth, physical and sensory development, communication skills, thinking, understanding and interacting with physical and social environments, and emotional control.

Early childhood educators serve as teachers, professionals, practitioners, providers, and caregivers. Along with the role of the professional educator, the involvement of parents is crucial in early childhood education. Together, educators and parents provide the attention and affection needed for the child's healthy development
