The Office of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action (“EO/AA Office”) ensures that the University takes affirmative action to guarantee that, during the employment process, all individuals are treated without regard to their race, color, religion, ethnic or national origin, sex, disability, age or status as a covered veteran. In an effort to reaffirm TSU’s equal employment opportunity policy in all personnel actions, we take an active role in the hiring process beginning with recruitment and following through to new employee orientation. The following information provides more detail about our roles and responsibilities in the University’s hiring and recruitment processes as well as some helpful resources for hiring managers regarding the requirements of TSU’s EO/AA policy.
RECRUITMENT
The EO/AA Office reviews recruitment plans for all executive, faculty, and professional (non-faculty) positions using online tracking system, PeopleAdmin. When reviewing a recruitment plan, we are checking to determine if the position has been properly advertised, that the search committee, when applicable, used to screen applicants is made up of a diverse range of individuals, and that the appropriate persons/organizations have been contacted about the available position.
These areas are reviewed in an effort to ensure that we are making every attempt to attract a diverse pool of applicants for our positions, and once candidates have been identified, that there is an appropriate combination of experiences to select the right candidate for the job.
For more information about recruitment plans and all other hiring procedures, please review TSU’s Personnel Policy 6.33. We also have an extensive list of diversity recruitment websites you can use to help diversify your job search pools.
