Jeffrey Fan

Associate Professor

Dr. Jeffrey Fan received his Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering at the University of California, Riverside, in 2007 and the Master of Science degree in electrical engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He has published over 50 journals and conference papers, authored two books and has been the editorial board member of two journals. He was the general chair and the organizer of an IEEE conference, the reviewer of grant proposals and journals, and the member of numerous Technical Program Committees. Moreover, he was the recipient of  an “Overseas Chinese Outstanding Inventor Award” honored by the government of The Republic of China (Taiwan) in 2013. He was elevated to the Senior Member of IEEE in 2007.
Before joining TSU, Dr. Fan was an Assistant Professor at Florida International University in 2007-2014. He has served as the Vice President of Vivavr Technology, Inc., and the General Manager/co-founder of Musica Technologies, Inc. He also held various technical positions in California at Western Digital, Emulex Corporation, Adaptec Inc., and Toshiba America.  His product line of research and development has included Virtual Reality (VR) 3-D animation, MP3 players, hard drives, fibre channel adapters, SCSI/ATAPI adapters, RAID disk arrays, PCMCIA cards and laser printer controllers.
Dr. Fan's research interests include VLSI (Very Large Scale Integration) circuit designs, b rain machine interfaces, artificial neural networks and computations, image processing and gesture recognition, and computer architecture and multicores.
