As the connection between your chosen academic specialty and TSU’s teacher education program, you can count on the Office of Teacher Education and Student Services to maintain your records and keep you informed of requirements to meet licensure and retention standards. Depend on us to collaborate with you to find suitable pre-service field experiences in the Nashville metro area, Sumner County, and elsewhere to provide relevant school-based experiences and clinical practice.




Admission to Teacher Education Program (TEP)

Requirements for admission to the TEP include:
Minimum GPA - 2.75 Cum
Pass Core, ACT, or SAT

Test Score Requirements:                                                                                      ACT - Score 22,                                                                                                       SAT - Score 1020 (Critical Reading & Mathematics),                                                 Core Reading - Score 156 (Test Number 5712)                                                         Core Math - Score 150, (Test Number  5732)                                                             Core Writing - Score 162, (Test Number 5722)                                                      Praxis Required Cut-Off Scores List                                                                     Clear TBI/FBI Security Clearance

Admission to Residency II

Requirements for admission to the Residency II include:
Completion of Residency I
Minimum GPA - 2.75 Cum
Pass required PRAXIS II Principles of Learning and Teaching (PLT) and the necessary examinations for your certification area
           TN Tests Required for Specific Licensure Areas
