The Tennessee State University ID card is issued to all students, faculty, and staff.
The ID card works as both identification and as a Debit card for students. The ID card is used in dining services, the library, and to access various events on campus for students.
The ID card should be on your person at all times while on campus. See ID Card Brochure for more information. The TSU ID Card is the property of Tennessee State University and must be surrendered upon request of any authorized party.
HOW TO GET AN ID CARD
The ID Center is located in McCord Hall, Room 20 . The requirements for issuance of a TSU ID include:
- Photo identification - a valid driver's license or other form of government photo ID (state ID card, military ID, passport, or residence alien card).
Students must first register and confirm their courses
Faculty/staff must have an assigned role in Human Resources
The photo ID is issued immediately after being photographed.
The first ID card is included in fees. Lost or stolen ID cards are replaced for a $10 fee payable in the Bursar's office.
LOST OR STOLEN CARDS
Visit the ID Center to report the card as lost or stolen. A card cannot be marked lost over the phone. Once a card is marked lost, it cannot be reversed. A new ID card and account number will be generated for you one hour after reporting the card lost. Cards reported lost or stolen after 3:30 pm will be processed the next business day. Funds assigned to the old card will automatically be transferred to the new one within 24-48 business hours.
PLEASE NOTE: a replacement card cannot be generated if you are not enrolled and taking classes for the current semester.
There is a $10 fee for a replacement card (lost, stolen, and/or damaged). The fee is payable at the bursar’s office located in the Administration Building. The cashier window closes at 3:30 pm daily. Bring your receipt to the ID Center to receive your new card. View the Card Brochure to access information about transferring your meal plan to your new card, and how to activate your new card.
Your TSU ID Card provides access to the following services:
- Wellness Center
- Parking Decal
- Residence Hall Access
- Encoded with meal plans
- Access to athletic events
With Debitek you can put money onto your card at any Cash-to-Card machine to use for laundry and photo copy machines on campus. The Debitek strip on your ID card is already active when you receive your card. Cash to Card machines are located in the Student Center on the second floor near the Information Desk, second floor of the library, third floor of Avon Williams Campus. Do not put large amounts of money on the card due to the fact refunds cannot be made if the card is lost or stolen.
Money Transactions Using the TSU ID Card
The Bursar's Office applies financial aid refunds to the card. Before using your card, check your balance by calling 1-800-741-6060 or register your card online at www.cardholder.comdata.com. The authorization code requested on the Comdata website when registering your card is your full social security number. When using your card to make purchases at retail locations always select debit on the machine.
The TSU ID card can be used at ATM machines supporting the Maestro or Cirrus system. ATM fees apply after the first card use. The ID center is not responsible if a merchant does not accept your ID card as a form of payment. Comdata checks are available in the ID center to withdraw your refund. Please note that beginning with your second transaction, your COMDATA account will be charged $1.00 for each ATM or COMCHECK transaction you make, and $.55 for each Maestro transaction.
